For Parents

Young athletes can experience pressure, frustration, disappointment, self-doubt and difficult emotions.

Learning how to navigate these experiences is part of developing as both an athlete and a person.

Mental toughness isn't about never struggling, never feeling nervous, or simply pushing through.

It's about developing the awareness and flexibility to respond when things don't go to plan - to handle pressure, learn from mistakes, manage difficult emotions and keep moving towards what matters.

Sport psychology gives young athletes a space to explore their experiences, understand themselves better and develop the psychological skills and resilience they can draw on when sport gets challenging.

Consultation Services

Support for young athletes requires a clear, collaborative, and reassuring framework. Here is how I manage the consultation process to keep it safe, focused, and approachable for both you and your child.

The First Step

Our initial conversation is always free, relaxed, and completely non-clinical. It offers an absolute zero-pressure space for us to meet, explore what challenges your young athlete is facing.

Confidentiality

Trust requires confidentiality. Specific reflections shared by your child stay safely private to foster a genuine relationship. However, we consistently share growth directions and feedback points with you.

When Is It Right?

Sport psychology excels at helping athletes understand pressure, self-doubt, and motivation shifts. It is an educational support system built on learning flexibility - it is not a clinical intervention for psychiatric or mental health crises.

The Role of Parents

Parents act as critical anchors. While one-to-one sessions remain focused exclusively on the young athlete, your observations provide vital context. We deliberate key themes together to ensure active reinforcement within the home environment.

Safeguarding

Athlete wellbeing is my absolute highest priority. I adhere strictly to professional ethical guidelines and safeguarding frameworks, guaranteeing a transparent, protected, and fully safe atmosphere for your child's exploration.
